Fourth Estate , the Department Association was inaugurated by Ms. Shabitha, Sub Editor of Mathrubhoomi. She shared her experiences with the students

GOTHRAYANAM

 The department had conducted Gothrayanam a photographic exhibition of ‘Thirayattam’ by photographer Mr.Santhosh Leo on 10th October 2019.The Gothrayanam was inaugurated by Mr.N A Nazeer, the famous wildlife photographer of Mathrubhumi newspaper. The section was followed by an interactive section by Mr.N.A Nazeer. About 30 students from different colleges participated in the program. The program horned Mr.Moorkanad Peedambaran,the famous Tirayattam Artist.


An Hour with a Journalist

The monthly interactive program an hour with a journalist was held on 30th October 2019.Mr.Nazeer, residential editor from The Hindu newspaper was the chief guest of the program.20 students from the nearby schools and colleges also participated in the program. The program also had a book exhibition on famous personalities in India.


One day workshop on Film making

Mr.Sreejith and his team have conducted a one day workshop on short film making. All the Journalism students were actively participated in all stages of the production. The final output of the film ‘Madampalliyila Yakshi’ was later shown to the students.The students were themselves divided into three groups and helped in all the stages of production such as pre-production, production and post-production. The final out movie was screened to the students with an evaluation discussion.

 


World Journalism Day 

The department of journalism organised a programme KATHRIKA on World Journalism Day. A wide range of competitions was held by journalism department. Several students participated in this event that took place in 2 days. Editorial writing, Live reporting, News reading, Film screening, Film review writing all these programmes were conducted in the first day of the programme. Followed by the inauguration programme and the debate in the second day. The prize distribution of the conducted competitions is also given by the Chief guest Mr.Nishad Rawthore and the competition conducted to improve the knowledge and observation of students. The main motive of this event to encourage and influence all students. And also to become a good journalist and a good human being’.

World Peace Day

On World Peace Day, the students of Journalism Department organized various programs called 'Heiwa' and also conducted a radio discussion. “Beyond the word peace”, it also discussed the importance of the light it spreads in the world and discussed the issue of peace in contemporary India. Speech competition (Malayalam and English) and letter writing competition were also conducted. And all these programs are conducted on the base of contemporary India and peace. For the Malayalam letter writing competition, contestants posted their letters in the letter box set up in front of the library block. The competition was  on the topic  “Contemporary India and Peace”. 

Malala day Observance - Extension programme

As a part of Malala day Observance, an extension programme was organized by the Dept. of Journalism in association with Fourth Estate for the students of A.K.T.M. LP school Manavayal . The programme was inaugurated by Mr. Sakkir.p ( H.M, A.K.T.ML.P School). MA students of Journalism Department took classes on various subjects like  personal hygiene, Education and carrier, Good touch and bad touch.


International Film Day 

A colorful program called “Silma Katha” was organized on September 26, in conjunction with the International Film Day. The program was held in front of the canteen. The program gave students an opportunity to guess the name of the movie by giving movie dialogues and songs. The program was a success with the participation of teachers along with the students. 

 'Velicham' Project 

As a part of 'velicham' project initiated by Madhyamam daily ,the Journalism department in Little flower Institute of Social Sciences and Health  received newspapers on 11th November 2022. The project was inaugurated by ShamsuddinAntona, and Nimitha V.K received the newspaper as the student representative of the Journalism department.Vice Principal Sebin Chiramel, Journalism and Mass Communication HOD Abhinand.T,  Assistant Professors Dincy David &BalaSanthosh.E,  Madhyamam representative KasimPadanilam, and Madhyamam reporter Usman P Chembra had participated this event.



TOURING TALKIES

Department of Journalism and Mass Communication in Association with Kerala Chalachitra Academy organised a film screening as  part of the “TOURING TALKIES’’ on the date 21 November 2022. The film CLASH, an Egyptian movie directed by Mohamed Diab, which has won the Suvarna Chakoram (Golden Crow Pheasant) Award at the 21st International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) was screened for the students. The state-run Kerala State Chalachitra Academy (KSCA)  organizes Touring Film festival in the state to whet appetite for cinema every year. They screen films that won the 'Suvarna Chakoram' (Golden Crow Pheasant) - the IFFK's top prize - at past festivals.

First year MA JMC students and teachers participated in the International film festival of Kerala held in Trivandrum from 09th December to 16th December 2022


Industrial Visit- News 18 Kerala

On December 15, 2022, students from Lissah College's Department of Journalism and Mass Communication undertook an industrial visit to News 18, a Malaylam news channel in Trivandrum. They gave the students a tour of their newsroom, which was an unfamiliar experience. They learned the true operations of a newsroom. The studio was split into two sections: one had a pre-arranged studio with the name of the news station displayed in the background, and the other had a green screen. In the final section on editing, students learned how crucial editing is. Students learn a lot about news reporting and news channels.


Seminar on Communication Research: Puzzle, Norms and Prospects

Conducted seminar on the Communication Research: Puzzle, Norms and Prospects in Association with Malabar Christian College, Calicut. With a brief introduction, Dr. Jobin Joy, Assistant Professor, Pazhassiraja College, Pulpally, took a half day seminar for both MA Journalism and Mass Communication students of Malabar Christian College and LISSAH College, kaithapoyil.

The class was started by explaining Research Methodology with relative examples of our day to day life. This was the first combined programme of LISSAH and MCC. The programme was wrapped up by Mr. Abhinand (HOD) of Department of Journalism and Mass Communication by mentioning his thanks and regards for both the guest and the audience.


Webinar on Research Writing in Mass Communication

Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, LISSAH conducted a Webinar on Research Writing in Mass Communication on 25th January 2023, Wednesday in association with Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Malabar Christian College, Calicut. The session was handled by Dr.Sreesanth.K, Assistant Professor, Department of Visual Communication, Amrita Vishwapeetham, Mysore Campus. The Class Started on 2:00PM, A total of 48 students in online and offline mode attended the webinar.

Seminar on Intellectual Property Rights

A seminar was organized on Intellectual Property 'Importance of IPR in Journalism ' on 30th March 2023. The session was headed by Mr. Abdul Bais P, Head and Assistant Professor, Department of Mass Communication and Journalism, MAMO college, Mukkam . He went on to explain the basics of IPR and then further elaborated on the various laws in the country regarding IPR. The webinar then moved to an interactive phase with the doubt clearance session wherein all the participants got an opportunity to clarify many of their doubts. 

Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) Signing 

The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between Little Flower Institute of Social Sciences and Health and Muhammed Abdurahiman Memorial Orphanage (MAMO) College to establish a framework for collaboration and cooperation in common intent to promote and strengthen the integral development of students.
